Papakura Sports Field

Project: Papakura Sports Field Review
Client: Auckland Council
Timeframe: 2011

Sports Surface Design & Management (SSDM) carried out a survey of 23 soil-based sports fields spread over nine parks in the Papakura/Drury area using SSDM’s Sports Field Quality Audit System. The purpose of the survey was to grade the fields in order to prioritise and facilitate future upgrading.

The survey involved making site visits to carry out an assessment of field’s inherent characteristics, including levels, topsoil quality, drainage infrastructure and actual usage. Information was entered into SSDM’s Sports Field Quality Audit System, from which it was possible to group the fields into high, medium and low priority for upgrading purposes. Recommendations were then made for drainage, irrigation, grass type and physical treatment along with an estimate of cost.
